Dell Alienware M15 R7 Review

The Dell Alienware M15 R7 is an extremely powerful gaming laptop. Its features include a Masterful aesthetic, hexagonal air vents with RGB inside, and an extremely satisfying keyboard with tactile feedback. While it’s a high-end gaming laptop, there are some things to keep in mind, including its price and battery life.

Powerful gaming laptop

If you’re looking for a powerful laptop for gaming, the Alienware M15 R7 is an excellent option. This laptop features a 10th Gen Intel CPU, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30-series graphics, and a surprisingly thin design.

The Alienware M15 R7 is one of Dell’s latest gaming laptops. It’s an all-in-one machine with plenty of ports. It comes with three USB-Type A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, one of which is capable of 5Gbps, a Type-C port with Thunderbolt 4 support, and HDMI 2.1. The laptop’s storage capacity can reach up to 4TB.

Although the Alienware m15 R7 comes with an impressive set of features, there are some drawbacks. The chassis is not the lightest and does not fold easily, and its fan isn’t the quietest. The power adaptor is also big and cumbersome, and the battery life is not particularly impressive.

The Alienware M15 R7 comes in three configurations. The base model has 512GB of M.2 PCIe NVMe storage. You can also get it with a 1TB storage option.

Unimpressive battery life

The Dell Alienware m15 R7 is a gaming laptop that comes with a 4-TB PCIe NVMe M.2 2280 SSD, one Thunderbolt 3 port, and three screen configurations. The screen refresh rate ranges from three milliseconds at 165Hz to a breathtaking one microsecond at 360Hz. The laptop also packs an impressive six-cell, 86Wh battery that lasts for almost five hours in tests. It’s not the best battery life, but it’s enough for a full workday or a longer gaming session.

The Alienware m15 R7 is powered by an AMD Ryzen R7 5800H processor and a 16GB of RAM. It’s a durable workhorse, with plenty of power and battery life to run 45 Google Chrome tabs, Twitch, YouTube, Google Docs, and Google Sheets.

As with other Alienware laptops, the M15 R7 shares some design cues with its predecessor, but it’s not as premium looking or as well-built as the X14. It’s also heavier and plastic, and doesn’t feel like a premium laptop. Dell’s focus on value over build quality means that this model won’t feel as solid as the Alienware x14, which has a luxurious aluminium and magnesium chassis.

Backlight bleed

Backlight bleed is a common problem on laptops. The Dell Alienware m15 R7 laptop is no exception. The backlight bleed can make the laptop look very dim and unattractive. If you’re unhappy with the backlight on your Dell Alienware m15 R7 laptop, here’s what you can do about it.

Unlike a standard LCD panel, an OLED panel does not require a backlight, meaning the brightness and contrast ratio are better. In addition, OLED panels support up to 10 bit color. If you’re an avid gamer or a content creator, you can upgrade your Alienware m15 R7 to a 4K resolution and 60Hz display.

If you’re a casual gamer, the Alienware m15 R7 is not the laptop for you. Its price is too high for most regular gamers. However, it has a decent keyboard and touchpad and a lot of ports, including USB-C with Thunderbolt 3. Although it’s not very portable, the Alienware m15 R7 is a great choice if you want a powerful gaming laptop.

Cooling system

The Alienware m15 R7 features new Cryo-tech cooling technology. This cooling system includes dual fans with large blades and 2.3x the airflow as the previous generation. The new design also incorporates less obstruction in the cooling system, making it quieter and more effective. Other features include a 1.8mm key travel, per-key RGB AlienFX backlit keyboard, and full-speed and balanced power modes.

The Alienware m15 R7 is equipped with NVIDIA Advanced Optimus, which enables dynamic display switching. This allows the integrated GPU of the Core i7 to handle general-purpose tasks while the GeForce GPU takes over when gaming for maximum performance. The system also includes G-SYNC variable refresh technology.

The m15 R7 is also equipped with a 1/8″ headphone and mic jacks. It also includes two USB Type-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports with a combined speed of 5 Gb/s. One of these ports includes PowerShare, which allows you to charge your mobile phone while your laptop is on. It also has a USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 2 port that supports Power Delivery up to 15W.
